CATERING INTl SERV : CIS wins a major US$100 million contract in Mongolia

Following an international call for tenders, CIS confirms the signature of a new contract with the major British-Australian Group, Rio Tinto, to ensure accommodation services management for the largest industrial mining project of this country, namely the Oyu Tolgoi copper and gold mine.

Located in the Gobi desert in Mongolia, Oyu Tolgoi is one of the world's most important open pit and underground mines (depth of 3,000 m) with exceptional reserves (expected production in 2020: 450,000 tonnes of copper and 11 tonnes of gold per year).

With enormous unexploited commodity reserves, Mongolia occupies a leading position worldwide in this respect. For CIS, this region is accordingly of key strategic importance for the long-term.

Under the terms of this new contract, CIS has to provide over a five year term all catering, accommodations, technical maintenance, transport and logistics, recreational and entertainment services for this major mining operation for the Mongolian government (estimate: 30% of GDP in 2020).

This contract of exceptional importance highlights the technical and commercial quality of CIS proposal, the professionalism of the teams, the strength of the Group's socio-economic engagement and CIS more than ten years of experience in Mongolia.

This project will be ramped up over the next five years and will involve the deployment of a sizeable number of new workers. It will allow the Group to register its first contributions to results starting in 2014.
