Student teachers to receive scholarship for teacher-training
The Minister for Education announced that 2013 will be the year of Methodology and Technology for the development of every child, therefore the Minister framed a policy to reform the quality of education. The Minister for Education decided to give travel expenses in the form of a scholarship to 100 students from a delegation of 1000 student who will study teaching this spring.
The Minister of Education, Gantumur.L, gave out the scholarship last Friday. During presentation the Minister said the students should find a methodology and technology for teaching to every child by changing attitudes and being open to new ideas. The position of a teacher is like that of someone who wants to help, support and guide children.
He continued, saying that students should have the attitude to add their own methods to the bank of methodologies and techniques used. He said that today new teachers are inadequate because they do not do teacher-training and students are only doing teacher-training 3-6 months in every year. In the new policy, he said that there is the intention to support students who will become teachers. For example, there will be subsidies for tuition fees for student who gained high scores in their entrance exams and who will go to teaching college. This scholarship is one million MNT for one student and they intend to increase the budget.
This year the 8 week teaching-practice has been organized in 7 aimags including Arkhangai, Bulgan, Gobisumber, Khentii, Selenge, Darkhan uul and Baganuur. On the training days MN Broadcaster will show TV programs about training.
During the signing ceremony, co-operation will be seen between the Minister for Education, MNB and the University of Education of Khashaat sum of Arkhangai who are representing countryside schools.
