PREMIER MEETS GERMANY'S MINISTER FOR ECONOMIC COOPERATION
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The Prime Minister received a delegation led by Mr. Dirk Niebel, the Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development of the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG).
The Premier said Mongolia aims to properly use its natural resources by manufacturing value-added products instead of exporting raw minerals, and noted an importance of assistance and support from the FRG in developing a responsible mining and in improving capability. "My country is aiming to introduce standards of the European Union to all spheres in order to create open, just, responsible and sustainable environment and to improve the governance," he said.
The Premier mentioned that the FRG is one of the countries that has supported Mongolia's democratic reform and rendered assistance, and underlined that Mongolia-Germany relations and cooperation have reached a level of comprehensive partnership.
"In times of putting mineral deposits into economic circulation, we need to cooperate with Germany in sectors of economics, finance and technology and to receive assistance and support for having the latest techniques and technologies," Mr. Batbold stressed. He hoped that Germany's Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development will significantly contribute to these matters.
The Premier noted that the countries have an opportunity to develop inter-civilian collaboration in the humanitarian, cultural and tourism spheres through some 35 thousand Mongolian alumni of German universities and institutes.
In his turn, Dirk Niebel appreciated successful implementation of transparency of the extraction sector in Mongolia, and reported that the Ministry decided to increase size of the aid to be rendered Mongolia by EUR 3 million.
Germany's side considers that Mongolia may spend money of the aid for improving governance of mining companies, preparing trained staffers, manufacturing value-added products and developing small- and middle-sized productions and small mines.
Mr. Niebel expressed his confidence that Mongolia will succeed in its development by realizing new and good policy.
