Khotol Cement Plant increases capacity four times

Ulaanbaatar, May 15 (MONTSAME) During his working visit to northern Selenge and Darkhan-Uul provinces, the Prime Minister of Mongolia N.Altankhuyag attended an opening ceremony of the Khotol cement plant in Selenge province on Thursday.

During his remarks, the Prime Minister noted that the cement plant has been reopened with four-time increased capacity of production, which is to supply now a half of domestic cement needs. The capacity enhancement project has been implemented under cooperation of the Development Bank and domestic firms. Besides the Khotol cement plant, three more factories are being under construction in eastern Dornogovi province, said the Prime Minister.
Before coming to Selenge province, the Prime Minister visited neighboring Darkhan-Uul province to get introduced activities of the Darkhan Metallurgical plant that has recently become operational all year around from seasonal operational mode, and the Erel cement plant that produced fifty thousand ton of cement last year, and is planning to produce one hundred thousand ton of cement this year.


Premier attends opening of young inventors’ exhibition

Ulaanbaatar, May 15 (MONTSAME) The Prime Minister N.Altankhuyag Thursday attended an opening of an exhibition of young inventors.
This exhibition is mounting inventions by 37 top contestants of the national contest called “Young investor” held under auspices of the Prime Minister. This year’s contest was participated by people from the city and all aimags.
During the ceremony, the Premier highly spoke a device of cleaning sheep pen assembled with a small-sized tractor’s engine which was invented by R.Avirmed, a pupil from Bulgan aimag. “This device really eases works of herders and easy to make,” Altankhuyag emphasized. Besides cleaning sheep pen, it can be used for cleaning snow on roads, its inventor said.
“Skills of young inventors have been growing, and their products are doing a progress to use our daily life,” Altankhuyag highlighted and urged youngsters to invent a mobile house for herders.
The contest’s winner will be awarded with a scholarship to study in engineering school of the Mongolian State University (MSU), State University of Agriculture (SUA) or Mongolian University of Science and Technology (MUST) as well as a cash prize of 10 million Togrog. Moreover, a prize from the Ministry of Education and Science will be awarded to an invention that is able to introduce in productions.  


Mongolian Ministers offer condolences to Turkey

Ulaanbaatar, May 15 (MONTSAME) Having arrived in the Embassy of Turkey in Ulaanbaatar, Deputy Foreign Minister D.Gankhuyag on Thursday offered his condolences to victims of mining explosion that took place in Manisa, Turkey on Wednesday.
Foreign Minister of Mongolia L.Bold also sent his condolences letter to his counterpart of Turkey Ahmet Davutolgu, expressing his condolences to the families of those killed in Manisa mine collapse.
Turkey has declared three days of national mourning for the 205 people killed in a coal mine explosion that also left hundreds trapped underground.


Ministry of Labour to cooperate with KOSHA

Ulaanbaatar, May 15 (MONTSAME) Mongolia’s Ministry of Labour will cooperate with the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (KOSHA) in exchanging experiences in labour safety and hygiene.
A memorandum on this issue was signed Thursday by J.Batkhuyag, the Mongolia’s Vice Minister of Labour and head of the national committee for labour safety and hygiene; B.Alimaa, a department head of the Ministry for policy regulation; Jung Hyun-ok, the South Korea’s Vice Minister of Employment and Labor; and Lim Yong Sab, a department head of the KOSHA for planning.
By the document, the sides will exchange information and experiences in refining upon the legal environment for labour safety and hygiene, introducing a management system, reducing the number of accidents at construction sector and improving hygiene and labour condition at job places. 


Foreign Minister meets US Congress delegation

Ulaanbaatar, May 15 (MONTSAME) The Mongolia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs L.Bold Thursday received in the State House Mr Steve Chabot, a member of the US House of Representatives and head of the Foreign Affairs Sub-Committee of Asia-Pacific; and Mr Stephen Lynch, a member of the US Congress.
At the meeting, the Foreign Minister underlined that Mongolians always thank the US Congress and people for supporting the Mongolia’s democracy and reforms, and emphasized the inter-parliamentary cooperation have been significantly contributing to the bilateral relations.
In turn, the US delegation expressed a satisfaction with visiting Mongolia that has become a good example for democracy in its region, and noted that the USA and its people appreciated Mongolian role in delivering democracy, human rights and justice around the world.


External trade in statistics

Ulaanbaatar, May 15 (MONTSAME) External trade turnover reached USD 2958.6 million after making trades with 111 countries in first four months of this year.
The export was made up with USD 1432.4 million, whereas the import--with 1526.2 million. Thus, the external trade balance showed a deficit of USD 528.3 million in the first four months of 2013, while it was in a deficit of USD 93.7 million in the first four months of this year, down USD 434.6 million from the same period of the previous year.
Total external trade turnover increased USD 5.3 million or 0.2%, of which, the imports declined by USD 214.6 million or 12.3% and the exports went up by USD 219.9 million or 18.1% against the previous year.


Nat’l consumer price in increases

Ulaanbaatar, May 15 (MONTSAME) In April of this year, the national consumer price index rose by 1.0% from the previous month, 4.6% against beginning of the year, and by 12.3% over the same period of the previous year.
The 1.0 per cent rise in the national index was mainly due to increases of 2.1% in food and non-alcoholic beverages, 0.7% in clothing, footwear and cloth, 0.3% in transport, and 2.1% in miscellaneous goods and services.


Loss of animals declines

Ulaanbaatar, May 15 (MONTSAME) In the first four months of this year, natural losses of adult animals reached 150.2 thousand heads at a national level.
It showed a decrease of 193.8 thousand heads or 56.3 per cent from the same period of the previous year. An analysis of the losses by types of adult animals shows 7.5 thousand were horses, 13.8 thousand--cows, 0.5 thousand--camels, 54.1 thousand--sheep, and 74.3 thousand--goats.


Stock exchange news for May 15

Ulaanbaatar, May 15 (MONTSAME) At the Stock Exchange trades held Thursday, a total of 8,815 shares of 15 JSCs were traded costing MNT 22 million 669 thousand and 141.15.
"Tavantolgoi" /3,977 units/, "Olloo" /2,000 units/, "Mongolia Development" /1,213 units/, "Genco tour bureau" /900 units/ and "Mongolia Telecom" /185 units/ were the most actively traded in terms of trading volume, in terms of trading value--"Tavantolgoi” (MNT 19 million and 885 thousand), "Mongolia development" (MNT 825 thousand and 330), "Baganuur" (MNT 591 thousand and 990), "Mongol alt" (MNT 411 thousand and 600) and "Mongolia Telecom" (MNT 259 thousand).
The total market capitalization was set at MNT one trillion 600 billion 908 million 286 thousand and 526. The Index of Top-20 JSCs was 15,571.88, decreasing by MNT 27.46 or 0.18% against the previous day.
