President Receives Credentials from Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina
Ulaanbaatar, March 14(MONTSAME) The Concurrent Non-Resident Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Mongolia MrBorislavMaric Thursday presented his diplomatic credentials to the President Ts.Elbegdorj.
MrElbegdorj wished MrMaric successes in expanding the bilateral relations.
The Ambassador noted that the bilateral relations are not very active these days, and said he will do all his best to boost the ties between our countries.
A joint statement on establishment of the diplomatic relations was signed in 1993.

President Ts.Elbegdorj Meets FAO Director-General JoseGraziano Da Silva
March 14 (infomongolia.com) On March 13, 2014, the President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj received the Director-General of Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations Jose Grazianoda Silva.
At the beginning of meeting, President Ts.Elbegdorj said, “This is your second visit toMongolia since your appointment as the FAO Director-General that shows us yourcommitment and special concern to our bilateral cooperation”.
Director-General Jose Graziano da Silva appreciated the President for accepting hisinvitation to meet and expressed his commitment to further promoting mutualcooperation with Mongolia. Mr. Jose Graziano da Silva said, “The 31st session of theFAO Regional Conference for Asia and the Pacific was successfully held in Hanoi, the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in March2012, and the 32nd Session of the Conference is being conducted in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia”.
President Ts.Elbegdorj added, “On behalf of the people and the herders of Mongolia, I would like to express our sincereappreciation to the FAO for its timely and efficient assistance for improving agricultural productivity, more specially foremergency assistance during Zud disaster (or "dzud", severe weather conditions).
Mr. Graziano da Silva appreciated Mongolia for its support and cooperation with the FAO. He also said that he was impressedby the Mongolian pristine nature and uncontaminated soil.
In response, President Ts.Elbegdorj said, “Mongolia would like to deepen our partnership with the FAO in order to maketangible contribution to the regional food security by efficiently using our renewable resource of livestock and fertile vast land fororganic products including crop and sea-buckthorn. I hope that Mongolia and the FAO relations will be entering in new levelwith the expectation for the FAO will be extending timely and demand based technical assistance to its member states within theframe of the FAO reform for decentralization under your leadership”.

Ambassadors from Sudan, Finland, Belgium, Angola, Ireland and Uruguay to Mongolia Have Presented Their Credentials to President Ts.Elbegdorj
March 14 (infomongolia.com) On March 13, 2014, six foreign Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary torepresent their nations to Mongolia have presented their Letters of Credence to thePresident of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj in the Government House, Ulaanbaatar.
These envoys are Ambassador of the Republic of the Sudan to Mongolia Mr. OmerEisa Ahmed, Ambassador of the Republic of Finland to Mongolia Mr. JariGustafsson,Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to Mongolia Mr. Michel Malherbe,Ambassador of the Republic of Angola to Mongolia Mr. Joao GarcieBires,Ambassador of the Republic of Ireland to Mongolia Mr. John Paul Kavanagh andAmbassador of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay to Mongolia Mrs. Maria del RosarioPortell and all are non-resident Ambassadors to Mongolia.
After the ceremony President Ts.Elbegdorj held a brief meeting with each Ambassador and wished success in their furtherendeavors. The meetings were held in a friendly and warm atmosphere, where Head the Office of the President P.Tsagaan andForeign Minister L.Bold were present.
During his meeting with Ambassador Omer Eisa Ahmed, President Ts.Elbegdorj expressed his confidence that the bilateralrelations between Mongolia and the Republic of the Sudan will further deepen and noted that the fourth shift of Mongolianpeacekeepers are serving in the United Nations Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) as of the end of 2013. The 70-90 percent ofSudan’s export accounts for oil.
Ambassador of Finland, JariGustafsson expressed that he would make every effort to enhance the traditional relations betweenthe two countries and President Ts.Elbegdorj mentioned Mongolia and Finland marked the 50th Anniversary of diplomaticrelations last year. In the scope of the anniversary a book “100 Social Innovations from Finland” was translated into Mongolianlanguage. Finland is cooperating with Mongolia on judicial reform and we are aiming to promote mutual partnership ineducation, culture and science sector.
During his meeting with Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium Michel Malherbe, President Ts.Elbegdorj thanked forpresenting credentials and parties exchanged views on cooperation in promoting democratic values, preserving internationalpeace and stability and deepening economic, trade and investment cooperation.
President Ts.Elbegdorj expressed his hope that Ambassador of Angola Joao GarcieBires will make great contribution toexpanding traditional friendly relations that lasted over 40 years between the two countries. Angola is rich in oil, diamond,coffee, cotton, gold and crude sugar. Therefore, both countries have ample opportunities to cooperate in agricultural sector.
Ambassador of Ireland John Paul Kavanagh expressed that he would make best efforts to strengthen bilateral people-to-peoplerelations between Mongolia and Ireland. Also, Ambassador raised issues on enhancing education, science and technology cooperation.
During the meeting, Ambassador of Uruguay Maria del Rosario Portell said, “I’m glad that I was appointed as an Ambassador tothis beautiful country. It is our duty to expand and enhance bilateral relations. We hope that our relations would move forwardand advance in positive directions. Please accept the greetings and best wishes of the President of Uruguay Jose Mujica. Asyou know he is an agriculture specialist. The representatives of Mongolian State Great Khural (Parliament) are scheduled tovisit Uruguay next week and I am glad this visit is coinciding with my accreditation to Mongolia”. In response, PresidentTs.Elbegdorj noted, “We hope that you would make great contribution to expanding relations of the both countries and the Officeof the President and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia would support your mission of close cooperation”.

During the meeting with Ambassador of Portugal Jorge Torres-Pereira, President Ts.Elbegdorj congratulated newly appointedenvoy to represent his nation and expressed confidence to bolster bilateral ties. Mongolia and the Portuguese Republic haveestablished the diplomatic relations in 1974. In 2010, Portuguese Foreign Minister had conducted an official visit to Mongolia,which is considered the first large-scale visit and during the visit, several intergovernmental documents were signed to enhancepartnership in education, science, technology, culture, sports and press.
Ambassador of Armenia to Mongolia Mr. ArmenSargsyan noted, “The friendly relations between the two countries have beenmarked as traditional ties since early times. However, the bilateral relations were weakening in last 20 years, but now it is timeto strengthen. The Armenian Conservatory had been a source of Mongolian culture and arts, and the cultural cooperation wouldbe impetus to restore the mutual collaboration”.
President Ts.Elbegdorj wished success in his further responsible mission to Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina BorislavMaric, who mentioned the joint declaration to establish diplomatic relations were signed in 1993 and pledged to activate thebilateral partnership.
During the meeting, Ambassador of Indonesia to Mongolia Mr. SugengRahardjo conveyed greetings of the state head ofIndonesia SusiloBambangYudhoyono to the President Ts.Elbegdorj and underlined the opportunity of cooperation in tourism,culture and light industry. Ambassador also expressed that the two countries have same position on democracy, regionalsecurity and sustainability. Mongolia has been working to participate regularly in the East Asian Summit since 2005 and in thesame year joined the ASEAN Treaty of Amity and Cooperation.
Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation to Mongolia Mr. Jean-Jacques de Dardel emphasized the 50th anniversary of theestablishment of diplomatic ties that marks in 2014 and parties agreed the same position on developing the democracy value.
Mongolia is cooperating with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation SDC and in frameworks, sides haveimplemented the project on “Combating Human Trafficking in Mongolia”, although Foreign Minister L.Bold sent a Letter to theHead of the Department of Foreign Affairs Didier Burkhalter to continue the project and now parties are considering the issue.

Speaker’s Visit Continuing in S.Korea
Ulaanbaatar, March 14(MONTSAME)A delegation headed by Z.Enkhbold, the Chairman of the State Great Khural (parliament), legged Thursday the South Korea Industrial Complex Corporation (SKICC) within the official visit to the country.
The Speaker inquired about an experience the Corporation has gained in developing a high-level cluster. The presentation about the Corporation was made by three--Kan Nam Hun, a chief of the representative leading council of the corporation, Choi Jong Tae, a director of Seoul branch, and Yung Chan Bae, a head of the policy and planning section.
Some 800 industrial complexes at the SKICC account for 66% of the South Korea’s GDP, 76% of the export, and 44% of the total employers, being the largest part of the country’s economy. 

Speaker Visits S.Korean Science and Technology Institute
Ulaanbaatar, March 14(MONTSAME)The Parliament Speaker of Mongolia Z.Enkhbold Friday visited the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST).
After thanking the Speaker for the visit, the KIST authority noted that the institute has been cooperating with Mongolia since 2002.
Establishment in 1966, the KIST has contributed significantly to the economic development of the country, particularly during the years of accelerated growth, by establishing advanced research and development supporting infrastructure in S.Korea, they noted.
Mr Enkhbold said scientific cooperation between the countries is important and that high officials have been exploring possibilities to build up a joint Science Education Center of Mongolia and S.Korea--an idea that, he believes, will receive support.
He wished the academicians a great success in their efforts to boost knowledge-based economy and to contribute to building of national wealth.

Speaker Z.Enkhbold Pays Courtesy Call on President of Republic of Korea, Park Geun-Hye

On March 14, 2014, the delegation was received by the President of the country ParkGeun-hye and at the beginning of meeting, Speaker Z.Enkhbold appreciated forwarm reception and conveyed the greetings of the state head of MongoliaTs.Elbegdorj.
Further, Speaker noted the bilateral collaboration has been broadening at allpotential spheres by the means of “comprehensive partnership” and in order todevelop, the reciprocal high-level visits play a vital role. The next year it will be commemorated the 25th anniversary of theestablishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the Republic of Korea and one the proofs of growing cooperationis about 120 thousand tourists from Korea visit Mongolia annually.
Moreover, dignitaries exchanged views on easing the visa liberalization and other issues regarding political and economicareas.

China and Mongolia to Renew Border AgreementEstablished in 2004
March 14 (infomongolia.com) Upon the initiation of the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic ofChina Liu Zhenmin, Minister of the Cabinet Office of the Government of MongoliaCh.Saikhanbileg has conducted a working visit to Beijing and held bilateral talks withthe Vice Minister on March 13, 2014.
During the visit, Mongolia-China consultative meeting was organized, whererepresenting the Government of Mongolia, Ambassador Extraordinary andPlenipotentiary of Mongolia to the PR of China Ts.Sukhbaatar, Chairman of CustomsGeneral Administration O.Ganbat, Chairman of General Agency for SpecializedInspection D.Batmunkh and Director-General of Immigration Agency B.Purevdorjwere present and the other by Vice Minister Liu Zhenmin and Inner Mongolia Administrative authorities.
After the ratification of Border Port Law, the Ports General Administration is being established under the Cabinet Office ofMongolia and Minister Ch.Saikhanbileg will chair the Ports National Council. In the scope of setting up such organ, Mongolianauthorities deem it would enable to cooperate with affiliated neighboring offices at same level.
Following the meeting, parties agreed the border relations between the two sides have opened a new page and within theconsultative meeting, it was negotiated to enhance the ports’ construction and management, to establish new standards andimprove the border region economy by creating new opportunities for cooperation, also to renew the border agreementbetween China and Mongolia signed in 2004.

Ambassador of Switzerland Presents Credentials
Ulaanbaatar, March 14(MONTSAME) On Thursday, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Switzerland to Mongolia Mr Jean-Jacques de Dardel presented the diplomatic credentials to the President Ts.Elbegdorj.
The President received the Ambassador after the ceremony. The leader of Mongolia noted that the 50th anniversary of the Mongolia-Switzerland diplomatic relations is celebrated this year and congratulated the Ambassador on this anniversary.
He underlined that Mongolia and Switzerland have similar positions on developing and strengthening the democracy and democratic values.
It was also noted that the Mongolian FM had sent to his Swiss counterpart a letter with a willingness to continue an anti-human trafficking project, realized here together with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). The Swiss side promised to study this matter.
 
MrPinas Becomes First Ambassador of Suriname to Mongolia
Ulaanbaatar, March 14(MONTSAME) The Concurrent Non-Resident Ambassador of the Republic of Suriname to Mongolia Mr Lloyd Lucien Pinas Thursday presented the diplomatic credentials to the President Ts.Elbegdorj.
On September 27 of 2013, MrPinas's country became the 172nd nation among the UN members and the 26th among the Latin American states Mongolia established the diplomatic relations. 
It is considered that the two countries can cooperate in the mining, tourism and agricultural sectors. 

Portuguese Ambassador Presents Credentials
Ulaanbaatar, March 14(MONTSAME)The President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj Friday received the Ambassador Concurrent and Non-resident of the Portuguese Republic to Mongolia Mr Jorge Torres-Pereira.
The Ambassador presented his credentials to MrElbegdorj. After this the Mongolian leader congratulated Mr Torres-Pereira for being appointed as such and confirmed that the parts will cooperate for deepening their collaboration.
The President congratulated the newly-appointed Ambassador on the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relationship between our countries, which is marked this year.
The Mongolian leader also spoke about a great importance of a visit of the Portuguese Foreign Minister to Mongolia in 2010, during which several intergovernmental documents on cooperation in education, sciences, technology, sports and press spheres were signed."This became the first-ever notable visit by the Portuguese part to Mongolia," he added.

FM Receives Belgium Ambassador
Ulaanbaatar, March 14(MONTSAME)The Foreign Affairs Minister L.Bold Thursday received Mr Michel Malherbe, the Concurrent Non-Resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belgium to Mongolia after his presenting the credentials to the President. 
The Minister congratulated Mr Malherbe on the above ceremony. Then the sides exchanged opinions on ways of activating relations between Mongolia and Belgium, particularly on visa waiving matter.
Mr Bold asked the Ambassador if there are ways to urge the Belgium parliament to promptly ratify the "European Union-Mongolia Partnership and Cooperation Agreement".
In response, the Ambassador said the bilateral relations have been active, and expressed a confidence that a realization of the "Diagnostic Centers Improvement of Western regions" project with a soft loan of the Belgium government will contribute to the intensification of trade and economic ties between the two countries. 

L.Bold Receives Portuguese Ambassador
Ulaanbaatar, March 14(MONTSAME)The Minister of Foreign Affairs L.Bold Thursday received Mr Jorge Torres Pereira, the Non-Resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Portuguese Republic to our country.
The sides talked about measures that would be appropriate for celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Mongolia-Portugal diplomatic ties, such as mutual high-level visits and seeking visa easing opportunities.
They also focused on the matters on cooperation between the diplomatic academies under the Foreign Ministries and on running Portuguese language training.
Mongolia and Portugal established diplomatic relations on July 26 of 1974.

Foreign Minister Meets New Ambassador of Switzerland
Ulaanbaatar, March 14(MONTSAME)The Minister of Foreign Affairs received Mr Jean-Jacques de Dardel, the Ambassador of Switzerland to Mongolia after his presenting the diplomatic credentials to the President Thursday.
They exchanged views on measures for the 50th anniversary of the Mongolia-Switzerland diplomatic relations to be marked this May, on co-organizing a political consultative meeting between the two Foreign Ministries, expanding actions of the General Consulate of Switzerland in Ulaanbaatar, co-realizing specific projects and programmes in frames of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).

FM Receives Ambassador of Sudan
Ulaanbaatar, March 14(MONTSAME)The Minister of Foreign Affairs L.Bold Thursday received Mr Omer Eisa Ahmed, the Ambassador of Sudan to Mongolia in conjunction with his presentation of the credentials to the President Ts.Elbegdorj.
Mr Bold congratulated Mr Ahmed on being appointed the Sudanese Ambassador to Mongolia, and shared views with him on seeking opportunities to activate the Mongolia-Sudan relations including the cooperation in the mining and agricultural sectors.
Mr Ahmed expressed thanks to the Mongolian side for sending troops to Darfur State for peacekeeping operation, and confirmed that he will work for enriching the bilateral relations with new contents and for regularizing mutual visits. The Ambassador conveyed to the FM an invitation to pay a visit to Sudan.
The parties also exchanged views on a present political and economic situation in Sudan and on regional issues. 

FM Receives Ambassador of Bosnia-Herzegovina
Ulaanbaatar, March 14(MONTSAME) Foreign Minister L.Bold Friday received MrBorislavMaric, the Ambassador of Bosnia-Herzegovina to Mongolia, in connection with latter’s presenting diplomatic credentials to the President of Mongolia.
At the meeting, the newly-appointed Ambassador pointed out a wide range of possibilities to enrich political and economic relationship and cooperation of the two countries. He also briefed on political and economic status of his country.
Confident about the Ambassador’s further contribution to developing of the bilateral relations in economy, trade, investments, the Minister wished him a great success.

FM Meets with Turkmenistan Ambassador
Ulaanbaatar, March 14(MONTSAME) Foreign Minister L.Bold Friday met with MsChinarRustamova, the Ambassador Concurrent and Non-resident of Turkmenistan to Mongolia.
The meeting ran in connection with the latter’s presenting diplomatic credentials to the President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj, earlier the same day.
At the meeting, MsRustamova pointed a great interest to boost bilateral cooperation and proposed   establishing an intergovernmental commission responsible for strengthening legal foundation of the relationship and regulating all cooperation matters between the countries.
She also noted that the Turkmenistan has invited the President of Mongolia to visit them.
Mr Bold said he stands for enhancing the relationship and cooperation between Mongolia and Turkmenistan, and confirmed that this Turkmenistan counterpart MrRasitMerelow has been invited to Mongolia.
The sides agreed to hold an inter-ministerial consultative meeting of the two Foreign Ministries this May to establish relevant cooperation documents. They also shared views on more active cooperation and mutual promotion of the countries.

Indonesian Ambassador Presents Credentials
Ulaanbaatar, March 14(MONTSAME)The President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj received the Ambassador Concurrent and Non-resident of Indonesia to Mongolia MrSoegengRahardjo.
The Ambassador presented the diplomatic credentials to Mongolia’s leader and conveyed to him greetings of the State head of Indonesia MrSusiloBambangYudhoyono.
The two countries have cooperation opportunities in tourism, culture, light industry matters, the newly-appointed Ambassador pointed. He also said that our countries share same position on issues of democracy, regional security and sustainability.
Mongolia has been making efforts to participate in the East Asia Summit (ASEAN) since 2005, the year when our nation joined the ASEAN treaty of Amity and Cooperation. Mongolia has been taking part in regional meetings of ASEAN since 1998, cooperating regional countries including Indonesia.
The President of Mongolia received an invitation to visit Indonesia.

Turkmenian Ambassador Presents Credentials
Ulaanbaatar, March 14(MONTSAME)The President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj Friday received the Ambassador Concurrent and Non-resident of Turkmenistan to Mongolia MsChinarRustamova.
MsRusamova presented her diplomatic credentials to Mongolia’s leader.
Glad to have been appointed as such, the newly-appointed Ambassador expressed a confidence that she will make a contribution to the traditional and friendly relationship. The Ambassador conveyed greetings of Turkmenistan State head GurbangulyBerdimuhamedow to MrElbegdorj and said Turkmenistan proposes setting up an interministerial relationship between two Foreign Ministries and founding an intergovernmental commission. She also invited the President to her country with a visit.
The distance between our countries shall not be a barrier to our relationship and cooperation, MsRustamova noted.
After this the sides explored ways to set up mutually beneficial cooperation in many fields, to develop business connections, as well as to activate cultural exchanges.
The President Elbegdorj urged the Ambassador to pass his greetings to his counterpart of Turkmenistan MrBerdimuhamedow.

New Ambassador of Finland Hopes to Widen Relations
Ulaanbaatar, March 14(MONTSAME)The Ambassador of Finland to Mongolia MrJariGustafsson will put all effort to expand the Mongolia-Finland friendly relations and cooperation within his office term.
He said it being received by MrL.Bold, Mongolia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, after having presented the diplomatic credentials to the President on Thursday.
He noted that the visit of the Finland Speaker EeroHeinaluoma to Mongolia in 2013 was very successful, contributing to further cooperation.
The sides shared views on co-organizing intergovernmental commission’s meeting this year in Mongolia. They also mentioned about an intensive development of the cooperation between court bodies.

Feasibility study for development of uranium deposit is in its final stage
March 14 (business-mongolia.com) State Property Committee made a statement yesterday that the feasibility study for developing an Gurvanbulag uranium deposit located in Dornod Province. After the completion of the feasibility study the commencement of the development will be decided. A state owned Mon-Atom LLC which has the special right from the government to explore and operate uranium deposits in the country is responsible for the whole process. The company also emphasized that the proven reserve is 63 thousand tons and has a potential to be increased.

“Miner and Supplier” Conference and Exhibition opens
March 14 (news.mn) The 4th “Miner & Supplier” conference and exhibition for 2014 is on its second day at the Chinggis Hotel in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. 
The “Miner and Supplier” conference particularly involves decision makers in mining supplies and services. 
At the two-day Conference and Exhibition there are examples of leading mining technology and goods and services suggested by international and Ulaanbaatar based mining suppliers and companies. 
This year`s edition of the conference is focusing on the key agenda to increase the socio-economic role of the conference, extend environmentally friendly technology and products and to increase business coordination between mining suppliers and mining business.

"Safe blood –Save mothers" campaign launches
March 14 (news.mn) Upcoming World Blood Donor Day, a campaign has been launched from today under a call "Safe blood –Save mothers".
The campaign has been launched by Mongolian Youth Federation along with the National Blood Transfusion and Research Center.
331 youth representatives of 21 aimags nationwide and members of Mongolian Youth Federation will involve in the campaign to donate blood. The blood donating campaign will officially take place at the Mongolian Youth Federation building at 11.00 pm today March 14th where Minister of Health N.Udval and government officials are supposed to be present.

Our Opera Singers to Play in "Madame Butterfly"
Ulaanbaatar, March 14(MONTSAME) Four soloists of the Mongolian State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet are planning to head the South Korea, next month.
This team consists of mezzo-soprano G.Dorjkhorloo, baritone E.Bumkhuu, bass J.Byambajav and tenor B.Gombo-Ochir.
They are to get involved in performance rehearsal with Italian producer for a month in the Opera Theatre of Taejon /Daejeon/ city, the fifth largest metropolis, and to play in the “Madame Butterfly” opera.
