Wrestling: St. Benedicts' Turtogtokh Luvsandorj finishes sixth at 165 pounds for The Citadel at the NCAA tournament
Turtogtokh Luvsandorj will graduate from The Citadel in the spring having left his mark on the school's wrestling program.
Luvsandorj, a redshirt senior originally from Mongolia, finished sixth at the NCAA Division 1 wrestling tournament at 165 pounds on Saturday in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. It was his fourth trip to the NCAA tournament and first time placing.
He holds the all-time record for wins at The Citadel and is the military's school's fourth All-American.
Luvsandorj won his first two bouts of the tournament, 7-4 over Wyoming's Dakota Friesth and 4-3 over Chattanooga's Corey Mock to reach the quarterfinals. There he fell, 4-3, in overtime to Virginia's Nick Sulzer and was sent to the wrestlebacks. He won his first two wrestlebacks before falling to North Dakota State's Steven Monk in the consolation semifinals. He fell again to Iowa State's Michael Moreno to finish sixth.
