Mongolia’s Buyanjargal Bold has won a famous victory at the Red Dragon Main Event, after defeating a huge field of 995 players over six days on his way to capturing the title, and collecting the HK$1,492,000 (US $192,404) top prize.

By the time the final table of nine had been reached, Australia’s Victor Teng was the chip leader on a 3.53m stack, followed by Mongolia’s Buyanjargal Bold (2.7m), and India’s Akash Malik (2.28m). Buyanjargal Bold (4-4) subsequently joined the fray by eliminating Richard Hu (A-4) in 4th ($76,988), and after Percy Yung (A-A) sent Victor Teng to the rail in 3rd ($193,178), the heads-up phase of the competition got underway between Bold and Yung.
As the final battle commenced, Percy Yung held a 2-to-1 advantage over Bold, but the Mongolian player was soon able to overcome his deficit when the defining hand was played with Yung all-in holding K-9, but up against the A-8 of Bold.
