Ivanhoe Mines is a Vancouver based mining company whose primary focus is the exploration, development and operation of mineral projects around the world. Ivanhoe was formerly known as Indochina Goldfields before changing its name to Ivanhoe Mines Ltd., in 1999. The firm has many interests around the world, and its largest project is the Oyu Tolgoi copper and gold project in the South Gobi region of Mongolia. The Oyu Tolgoi project is the worlds largest undeveloped reserve of copper deposit.

The company also holds interests in various mineral resource projects in the Asia Pacific region, including the Ovoot Tolgoi coal mine in Mongolia; the Cloncurry project for the exploration and development of copper, gold, and uranium in Queensland, Australia; and the Bakyrchik gold project in Kazakhstan. It has a joint venture agreement with Omico Corp. to explore and develop a gold and copper project in the northern Philippines.

The Oyu Tolgoi project in the South Gobi region of Mongolia is the crown jewel among Ivanhoes assets and is responsible for majority of Ivanhoes value and future growth prospects. It is worlds largest undeveloped copper mine and is expected to affect the global copper supply significantly. Based on Ivanhoe Mines' discoveries at Oyu Tolgoi during the past nine years, independently verified estimates indicate that Oyu Tolgoi contains approximately 79 billion pounds of copper and 45 million ounces of gold in measured, indicated and inferred resources.
