President meets Peter Ramsauer

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The President of Mongolia received Tuesday a delegation led by Mr. Peter Ramsauer , the Federal Minister of Transport, Building and Urban Affairs of Germany, in the Government House.

Beginning the meeting, the State Head said Mongolia is a main partner of Germany in Europe and expressed a satisfaction with a successful development of the relations between Mongolia and the Federal Republic of Germany. He has said Mongolia always thanks the FRG for supporting the democratic revolution that ran in 1990 and for rendering various types of assistance through state funds.

"By 1920, when Mongolia got its independence, many intellectual people of Mongolia had studied in Germany, that is why Mongolians are very friendly to Germany," the State Head has stressed.

The President has mentioned that Mongolia can constantly provide with raw materials a certain industrial sector of Germany who has developed the latest high tech. He has underlined an importance of the transit railway transport for the trade between Asia and Europe, adding it is necessity to boost a trilateral collaboration among Mongolia, Russia and Germany in order to improve transit capability of the Mongolian railways. Then, he has expressed a satisfaction with the composition of the visiting group comprising the State secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, and has mentioned that Mongolia has opportunities to use new techniques and technologies in the agricultural sector and to process agricultural raw materials and to export them to foreign countries.

Present at the meeting were Kh.Battulga, the Minister of Road, Transportation, Construction and Urban Development; L.Bold, the Defense Minister and a member of the Mongolia-Germany parliamentary group; D.Battulga, head of the Presidential Office; L.Purevsuren, an advisor to the President on foreign relations; and Pius Fischer, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the FRG to Mongolia.

At the end of this meeting, the North Star Order of Mongolia was bestowed upon Mr. Michael Glos, a member of the Bundestag and a former Minister for Economics and Technology, for significant contribution to expanding the bilateral cooperation in trade and economics.
