Mongolian official chairs session

The second session of the Committee on Macroeconomic Policy, Poverty Reduction and Inclusive Development of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) is being held in Bangkok from December 7 to 9.

ESCAP Executive Secretary H.Heizer; Thailand Deputy Prime Minister and Trade Minister Kittiratt Na-Ranong; and presidents of various central banks attended the session’s opening ceremony.

U.Byambasuren, the State Secretary of Mongolia’s Ministry of Social Welfare and Labor, is chairing the session. The session is discussing ways the countries of Asia and the Pacific can overcome current economic instability and cope with inflation. Delegates will issue recommendations and exchange opinions.

Experts meeting before the session also discussed the region’s macroeconomic situation and the challenges of reducing poverty and inclusive development amid high inflation and food prices in Asia and the Pacific.
