PRESIDENT GIVES REPORT AT SUB-MEETING

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ The President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj together with a professor Christian Welzer, a president of the World Values Surveys, have delivered reports at a sub-meeting called "Role of the education of democracy in understanding of common basis between democracy and civilizations".


These reports were given on Monday within the 4th forum of United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC). The professor Welzer noted that the values of democracy do not depend on civilizations or religions and that they are the thing to be equally shared by all people of the world. "My conclusion has been based on researches conducted in hundred countries. I can confirm that the higher a level of education, the more strong the foundation of democracy," he stressed.

Mr. Welzer appreciated a proposal of the Mongolian President on involving Mongolia in the research, and then gave some comments on methods of research and financing.

The President Ts.Elbegdorj underlined that freedom of religions in Mongolia, which has been continuing many years throughout a history, is one of the biggest achievements similar to those of nowadays democracy of Mongolia. "Freedom is the most cherished thing of the nomadic people, so Mongolia's democracy is firmly strengthened," Ts.Elbegdorj said.
