MONGOLIA AT HIGH-LEVEL MEETING OF UNFCCC

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ The Minister of Environment and Tourism L.Gansukh will give a report on Mongolia's governmental activities aimed at adapting to the climate change and reducing it. It will happen at a high-level meeting on December 6 in South Africa. This meeting is scheduled within 11th UN Climate Change Conference which started on November 28 in Durban, South Africa. With participation of 15 thousand delegates from 194 countries, the conference's opening was attended by Jacob Zuma, the president of South Africa; the president of Chad, and the vice-president of Angola.

Working group meetings of the 17th Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the 7th Session of the Conference of the Parties serving as the Meeting of the Parties (CMP7) to the Kyoto Protocol will take place in frames of the 11th conference.

The UN Climate Change Chief Mrs. Christina Figures has emphasized an importance of forwarding climate change matters discussed last year in Mexico, for example, approving a legal basis of the “Green Fund” for climate, beginning this fund's actions and setting up an adaption committee.

In accordance with a joint decision of the participants, the 18th Conference of the COP17 will take place in 2012 in Qatar, whereas the Ministerial meeting will run in the Republic of Korea.
