Oyutolgoi RMC to meet

Oyutolgoi LLC is planning to hold a meeting of its Representative Managing Council in early December to discuss the mining project’s results for 2011 and its plans for 2012.

Rio Tinto has been managing the Oyutolgoi project since December 2010. The Oyutolgoi Representative Managing Council is working to hash out administrative issues and find a suitable energy source for the project.

The Government has not yet started construction of a planned power plant for the project. Oyutolgoi LLC has requested permission to import energy from Inner Mongolia, but so far has had no success, due to an energy shortage in northern China. Without a reliable source of energy, plans to commence mining at Oyutolgoi in 2012 could be delayed.
