ACA chief receives Asia Foundation representative

Anti Corruption Authority Chief N.Ganbold on Thursday received Meloney C.Lindberg, the Asia Foundation’s permanent representative in Mongolia.

Lindberg spoke about the results of some cooperative works with the ACA, including a seminar called “Planning Corruption Prevention Activity,” and a public awareness campaign about the damage caused by corruption. She noted that all state organizations in Mongolia have implemented corruption prevention plans.

N.Ganbold thanked her for the foundation’s cooperation with the ACA, which was only recently established in Mongolia. He emphasized that the ACA has a duty to work to prevent corruption and crimes, and not just to investigate post-facto. Ganbold noted that the ACA is interested in cooperating to improve the ACA’s skills and to implement legislation based on other nations’ experiences.

Lindberg stated that an anti-corruption project has been actively implemented and Asia Foundation is prepared to implement the next project, “To Strengthen Good Governance and Fight Corruption.” She said the foundation is ready to support Mongolia’s anti-corruption efforts.

N.Ganbold told that the ACA also must fight corruption in the mining sector, since the nation’s development is dependent on that sector. He suggested cooperating in this area.
