UNIDO CONFERENCE CO-CHAIRED BY MONGOLIAN BEGINS

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ The 14th session of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization's (UNIDO) General Conference kicked off on Monday in Vienna, Austria.


The Vice President of Ecuador L.Moreno has been selected the conference's chairman, and the Permanent Representative of Mongolia to the UNIDO J.Enkhsaikhan--as one of the vice chairmen from Asian group.

Representatives of 173 nations are running this conference themed “The New Industrial Revolution: Making it sustainable”. They will make decisions and resolutions on planned and present works of the UNIDO in order to ensure the three basic criteria of sustainable development--preserving environment and ensuring economic and social developments. The UNIDO Director-General Kandeh Yumkella delivered a report, at beginning of the conference, on the two-year measures and works of the UNIDO and on goals for introducing "Green industries". An advisor to the European Union (EU) Jeremy Rifkin gave a report on theory and practical issue for the "Third industrial revolution" based on interaction between IT and energy.

Within the conference, the participants will run general debates and a high-level discussion on stabilizing the new industrial revolution, and will consider problems facing the regions.
