Former Mongolian President Faces Corruption Investigation

Former President Nambar Enkhbayar faces investigation for his alleged involvement in the illegal privatization of a printing house, local media reported Wednesday.

The state investigation agency of Mongolia, which falls under the Ministry of Justice and Internal Affairs, handed over the case to the anti-corruption agency on Wednesday for further investigation.

Enkhbayar said the case was politically motivated and came after he split from the ruling Mongolian People's Party and formed his own "Mongolian People's Revolutionary Party." Earlier, the state investigation agency tried to arrest Enkhbayar for questioning after he refused to appear citing legal immunity.
