Case against Government begins on March 15

The Sukhbaatar District Court will begin hearing a case against the Government at 09.30 on March 15 for its alleged failure to implement, even after two years of its passing by Parliament, the law prohibiting mineral resources exploration and exploitation in river and forest basins. The charge has been brought by The Union of Movements for Mongolian Rivers’ Protection.

The Union will be represented at the trial by its head, D.Dashdemberel, a member Ts.Munkhbayar, and also members of Dayar Mongol and Ongi River Movements. Deputy Minister for Nature, Environment and Tourism Jargalsaikhan and Deputy Minister for Mineral Resources and Energy B.Ariunsan will represent the Government.

The Union has requested the Court to allow the public and media to watch the proceedings of the trial.
