Laima begins export to Mongolia

Latvian chocolate and sweets producer Laima has begun to export its products to Mongolia. The company has already signed the agreement and sent the first 15 tons of its products, as the company informed the business information portal Nozare.lv.

This rapidly developing market holds many opportunities. Mongolian government is effectively making use of the country's potential to improve its residents' welfare. Despite the distance that separates both countries, Latvia is considered as a country with high-quality products, said Laima's export department head Ieva Jonsone.

More products will be sent in April, including Gutta juices, water Everest and ice teas, informs LETA.

"Our new products – liqueur-filled chocolate candies and "Fantasy" chocolate candies with various fillings are already being exported to several markets. Five tons have been sold on the Russian markets and three tons in Israel. We are also planning to increase our export to Slovakia. In 2009, the company exported 15 tons, while last year – already 20 tons. This year we are planning to double our export to Slovakia," said Jonsone.

Currently Laima, the largest chocolate and sweets producer in the Baltic States, exports its production to 25 different countries.

The joint stock company Nordic Partners, which belongs to Latvian businessmen, is the majority owner of Laima after acquiring a 51% stake in the international company Nordic Partners Limited.
