Erdenet has reserves for 40 years
At present estimates, the mines of Erdenet Mining Corporation have deposits for 40 years, if the current rate of lifting 25.5 million tons of ore annually remains constant. Erdenet exports copper and molybdenum concentrate.
Established in December, 1978, the Russian-Mongolian joint venture company’s initial production capacity was 4 million tons a year, which has been increasing with introduction of more modern and more efficient technology. There is talk of building a smelter, which would raise revenues considerably.
The company is building a stadium to mark the 30th anniversary of Orkhon aimag, where it is situated.
