Ambassador of United Kingdom to Mongolia Ends His Mission in Country
February 2 (infomongolia.com) On February 02, 2015, the President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj received in his office, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Mongolia, Mr. Christopher Charles Stuart due to end of his mission in the country.

In his meeting with the Ambassador of the United Kingdom, the President of Mongolia noted, “You have worked in Mongolia as an envoy for three years and during this period you have greatly contributed to the development of Mongolia-UK relations, in which I would like to express gratitude on behalf of the people and on my own. Mongolians acknowledge that the UK is one of the western countries first recognized Mongolia’s Independence. The two countries established the diplomatic relations in 1963 and been maintaining the friendly ties so far. Also, it is notable that the two states are planning to boost collaboration in the mining, railway, stock exchange, despite, the economic partnership is being developed considerably. I wish you success in your further endeavor, Mr. Stuart”.

Ambassador of Lao to Mongolia Ends His Mission in Country
February 2 (infomongolia.com) Today on February 02, 2015, the President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj received in his office, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Lao People's Democratic Republic to Mongolia, Mr. Bounnhang Xaysanavong due to end of his mission in the country.
During the meeting with the Ambassador of the LDPR, President of Mongolia noted, “We greatly evaluate the contribution in the development of relationship made by the Honorary Ambassador during the past three years. I would like to recall when was participating in the IX Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) Summit in Vientiane in 2012, I had met with the state head and other dignitaries of the Lao PDR.
Mongolia to host the ASEM Summit in 2016 and in this regard, I hope the top-level delegates would participate in this event. Also, we will implement the tasks discussed between the parties and will pay particular attention on cooperation issues in agriculture and industry spheres. Please convey my warm greetings to the President of Lao and the people and wish you success in your further endeavor, Mr. Xaysanavong”.

Minister of Foreign Affairs visits Altanbulag-Khiagta border checkpoint
February 2 (news.mn) Officials led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, L.Purevsuren, visited the Altanbulag-Khiagt border checkpoint last weekend. They were introduced to developments and activity at the border checkpoint. 
As of the end of 2014, Mongolian and Russian citizens have been allowed to travel across the border without visas.  In comparison to the same period last year, passenger transportation has increased by 36 percent at the checkpoint and vehicle transportation by 23.1 percent.  
As of January 2015, passenger transportation increased by 23,226 (88.5 percent) and vehicles by 5,242 (54 percent).
The Khiagt border checkpoint and customer organization checks five to seven vehicles per hour.  Due to this timely procedure, passengers have to wait patiently in a long queue to cross the border. One vehicle may have to wait up to 12, which has negatively influenced satisfaction at the border port regarding the fulfillment of procedures.  
During the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, representatives in Buriatiya from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs participated in the visit and discussed the problems facing the Altanbulag-Khiagt border checkpoint.
The Minister pointed out that the difficult issues faced by the border checkpoint will be resolved in the near future and that he would present these issues to the Cabinet for discussion. He assured that measures will be taken to safely travel and for the protection of rights of passengers travelling through the Altanbulag-Khiagt border checkpoint.

Chess grandmaster Mikhail Gurevich to hold training

Ulaanbaatar, February 1 (MONTSAME) A chess grandmaster and trainer for former World champions G.Kasaparov and V.Anand Mikhail Gurevich will arrive in Mongolia on February 15, at an invitation of the Mongolia’s Chess Federation (MChF).
The current coach for the Turkish national team for chess M Gurevich will visit here together with his spouse Masha Klinova, a FIDE master and judge, and will hold training for Mongolian junior and professional chess players until February 25.
The training will involve up to 40 players, and the training’s fee costs USD 100-150.
Besides Mr Gurevich, training will be held among Mongolian chess judges by grandmaster Grivas Efsratios, chair of the Judges’ Council of the World Chess Federation (FIDE); and Panagiotis Nikolopulis, chair of the FIDE Judges’ Congress.    

Winter festival runs

Ulaanbaatar, February 2 (MONTSAME) The Second Ice Festival (Winter Festival) of Ulaanbaatar was held on February 1 on Tuul River. The event was warmed by the national music performance by “Jonon” band.
The festival is being organized for the second time this year in frames of the objectives of the “Friendly Ulaanbaatar” program to attract more tourists and to restore and preserve the traditional Mongolian festival, said the Deputy Mayor N.Enkhtsengel.
Participants of the festival, who dressed in their national costumes, attended archery and Ice-Shagai tournaments, as well as other cultural events. The festival also included performance by the student ice-skaters, bicycling tours and dog-sled tours.

Minister of Food and Agriculture tours Agricultural Stock Exchange of Mongolia
February 2 (news.mn) Minister of Food and Agriculture R.Burmaa and Deputy Minister B.Batzorig visited the Agricultural Stock Exchange of Mongolia for an update on its activities. 
The Agricultural Stock Exchange opened in 2013. The market has become a transparent market for herders and producers, and has created conditions for establishing the actual value of agricultural products and reduced expenses through its business activity. For that reason, several trades of agricultural products at market prices have been carried out, not only on the domestic market, but also in foreign markets. In the last two years, the trade of the Agricultural Stock Exchange has reached 971.4 billion MNT.  
Starting next year, the Agricultural Stock Exchange is going to trade fur and raw materials, and it is also preparing to trade wheat products. Preparations for launching the trade of fur and raw materials are now underway.
As of January 29, 2015, the Agricultural Stock Exchange has organized 11 trades and traded 557.2 tons of goat wool, 11 tons of cashmere wool, 662 tons of sheep wool, and 26 tons of camel wool, for total trade valued at 13.7 billion MNT.

U.S. Embassy makes an official statement on the sentencing of former SGS employees
February 2 (news.mn) The tax investigation trial against three former SouthGobi Sands employees and charges of 35 billion MNT in taxes was held at the 2nd stage primary court of the District Criminal Court last week. The trial took three days and resulted in a guilty verdict, fines, and sentencing of up to 5 years and 10 months in prison.
On January 30, 2015, judges found U.S. citizen Justin Kapla and Philippine citizens  Hilarion Cajucom, Jr. and Cristobal David guilty of tax evasion charges, and SouthGobi Sands has been found financially liable as a "civil defendant". 
The Embassy of the United States made a statement last Friday concerning the conviction of U.S. citizen, Justin Kapla, former president and executive director of SouthGobi Sands.
Several embassy officials attended the trial, in particular Ambassador Piper Campbell. The statement from the U.S. Embassy states that the ambassador noted that there were interpretation problems during the trial, and because of these problems, the defendants stated during the trial that they could not understand the interpretation, nor could they express themselves clearly. 
"Mr. Kapla’s case has lasted nearly three years and the repeated delays and exit ban have caused him enormous hardship.
"Economic Advisor to the Prime Minister Mr. Chuluunbat recently reiterated what international investors have long made clear – that exit bans on foreign business executives whose companies are involved in business litigation in Mongolia have had significant, detrimental impacts on foreign direct investment.
"Mr. Kapla’s lawyers have informed us that the United Nations Human Rights Committee has accepted his petition to review what he alleges to be the violation of his intrinsic human rights by Mongolian authorities.  The U.S. Embassy will continue to monitor the situation closely."

Merit Athlete U.Munkh-Erdene Wins Silver at 38th International Boxing Tournament Held in Kyrgyzstan
February 2 (infomongolia.com) On February 01, 2015, the 38th International Boxing Tournament dedicated in Memory of the Hero of the Soviet Union, Duishonkul Shopokov was successfully finished in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
At the press conference, Director of the State Agency of Physical Culture and Sports, Kadirbek Ergeshov said, the International Boxing Tournament brought athletes from 10 countries such as China, Estonia, Latvia, Mongolia, Russia and Thailand. This year it is special, as this is the 100th anniversary of D.Shopokov, Hero of the USSR and the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. And thus, the Agency pays a particular attention to conduct in a broad ranges and allocated 20 thousand USD for monetary prizes.
Mongolian team was represented with its four boxers, where only Merit Athlete of Mongolia Uranchimeg MUNKH-ERDENE, 64 kg, could successfully finish the tournament by achieving a Silver medal. However, it was expected more results, but due to injury in his eyebrow got during semifinals, referees decided to stop the bout and conferred the winner’s title to U.Munkh-Erdene’s opponent.

Ulaanbaatar, February 2 (MONTSAME) At the Stock Exchange trades on Monday, a total of five million 050 thousand and 690 units of 28 JSCs were traded costing MNT 526 million 908 thousand and 671.00.
"E-trans logistics” /five million 004 thousand and 608 units/, “Olloo” /10 thousand and 250 units/, “Khokh gan” /10 thousand and 200 units/, “Remikon” /10 thousand and 140 units/ and "Genco tour bureau” /9,136 units/ were the most actively traded in terms of trading volume, in terms of trading value were "E-trans logistics” (MNT 500 million 437 thousand and 760), "APU” (MNT nine million 705 thousand and 100), “Tavantolgoi” (MNT three million 366 thousand and 269), “Talkh chikher” (MNT two million and 064 thousand) and "Gutal” (MNT one million and 859 thousand).
The total market capitalization was set at MNT one trillion 388 billion 384 million and 363. The Index of Top-20 JSCs was 14,370.46, increasing 79.83 units or 0.56% against the previous day.

Express bus to decrease traffic jam during Tsagaan Sar

February 2 (gogo.mn) In view of upcoming Tsagaan Sar celebrations, City Governor assigned license plate limitations and started to serve express bus routes in order to decrease road congestions. 
Bus routes M: 28, M: 33, M: 36 and M: 42 have started serving routes to "Denjiin 1000" market during Jan 31, Feb, 01, 07, 08, 14, 15.
During these weekend limitations, express bus to "Narantuul" market will be serving at 10am, 11am, 12am, 02pm, 04pm while express bus to Orbit, Narangiin Gol, Takhilt, Ulaan Khuaran, Sharkhad, Belkh, Chingiltei, Denjiin 1000, Yarmag, Nisekh, Bayankhoshuu, Khaniin Material will be servingt at 11am, 12am, 01pm, 03pm, 05pm from "Narantuul" market.
