MP L.Gantumur asks PM about nuclear waste
MP L.Gantumur has sent a note to Prime Minister S.Batbold about the ongoing controversy regarding nuclear waste storage in Mongolia. Gantumur says the public is troubled by rumors that nuclear waste might be stored in Mongolia, and he is asking the Government to make a definitive public statement on the issue.
In the note he writes that the Government should state its position on the issue after consulting with the ministries, and determine whether any organizations or individuals have illegally engaged in negotiations on the matter. The note also questions whether the Nuclear Energy Authority can effectively and responsibly do its work in overseeing Mongolia’s radioactive mineral resources. Gantumur requests a reply within two weeks.
