MEETING OF CICA EXPERTS STARTS

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ Experts Meeting on Combating Desertification of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) kicked off on Tuesday, September 6 in Ulaanbaatar. Co-organized by the Mongolian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Environment and Tourism, the meeting is going to discuss present desertification situations of the member countries, ways for combating against desertification and urgent problems. In addition to it, the meeting aims to run share of views among the experts and to give reports of the participant countries on their positions. The gathered will exchange information on their experience to combat with desertification, will determine regional cooperation opportunities and will start collaboration among the members. The CICA was established on October 5, 1992 at an initiative of Nursultan Nazarbayev, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, at the 47th Session of the United Nations General Assembly. Mongolia began participating in the Conference from 2008.
