D.ERDENEBAT MEETS FOREIGN SPECIALISTS

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ D.Erdenebat, the Secretary General of the Democratic Party has received Adhy Aman and Byart Tora, program specialists of the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance ( IDEA) based in Stockholm. They have exchanged views on political parties reform. During the meeting, D.Erdenebat has introduced Mongolian political parties, the Constitution, laws on political parties and elections and expressed his position. He said “The law on political parties obstructs state activities. For this reason, the bill on elections has not approved still. So, we need to amend the law in order to decide this issue. Therefore, it is indispensable to review the Constitution, the laws on political parties and elections”. Byart Tora has said “I was astonished when reading the Constitution of Mongolia. Because, there hardly were clauses related to political parties. To solve the problem, those laws should be comprehensively reviewed. D.Erdenebat expressed gratitude to supporting their position. At the end of the meeting Byart Tora added that they are discussing these issues with members of several parties. This will contribute to their survey on reviewing these laws.
