Counterfeit Louis Vuitton goods confiscated
The Intellectual Property Office (IPO) says it has confiscated counterfeit Louis Vuitton products from shops in Ulaanbaatar. The French retailer opened a boutique in the capital in 2010, but counterfeit LV products made in China and South Korea are still sold in some shops.
The IPO says it recently inspected some shops and confiscated the counterfeit goods. Some shopkeepers complained about the abrupt inspections, and protested that they had been selling the goods for some time without incident.
IPO Deputy Chief S.Gantumur told our correspondent that the IPO has the right to confiscate counterfeit brands. He said there are genuine differences between real and counterfeit goods. He also said the inspections and confiscations are legal. LV officials sent the IPO information about their products to assist the inspectors.
