6,000 jobs may be generated in 2012
Labor Conference 2011, which was held at the Chinggis Hotel on Tuesday, examined the issues facing employers, as well as ways to reduce unemployment and poverty.
Delegates from the Ministry of Social Welfare and Labor, the Confederation of Trade Unions, the Ulaanbaatar Labor Office (ULO), and the Employers’ United Association took part, as did business leaders and scholars.
Deputy Mayor Tsogzolmaa noted that the Mayor’s Office, Employers’ United Association, and Confederation of Trade Unions have concluded a trilateral agreement for employment, which has already resulted in the hiring of 25,900 unemployed people.
The ULO is focusing on finding part-time work for students and said that 12,700 were working at the end of June 2011.
Deputy Mayor Tsogzolmaa also said some 6,000 new jobs were expected to be created next year, including 2,000 in service industries, 2,000 in trades, and 560 in construction.
