Prime Minister examines south road construction operations

This year, the centers of six provinces are set to be connected to Ulaanbaatar with paved roads. The road construction in the direction of Ulaanbaatar-Bayankhongor has been completed, while the rest of the project is being implemented in accordance with the plans. Prime Minister N.Altankhuyag was introduced to the progress of the road construction in the direction of Ulaanbaatar-Choilbalsan yesterday, and he gave the relevant authorities further responsibilities.

Some 300 workers from six companies with around 200 special kinds of equipment and facilities are busy constructing the 288-km road from Undurkhaan to Choibalsan. According to the officials in charge of the construction, the project’s completion is at 33 percent. Even though rainy days are burdening the construction work, the executing companies are working intensively in three shifts.

The contract with the government was signed with the executing companies under the condition that if they build poor quality roads or if they do not complete the construction on time, they will lose their rights to participate in the bids to construct more roads in the next year. The construction work of the road in the direction of Undurkhaan-Choibalsan is being executed by six companies such as “Nasny Zam”, “Khansuun Zam,” and “Gashuuny Gol.”

There are not any impediments to the financing of the roads’ construction. Accordingly, Prime Minister N.Altankhuyag ordered the executing companies to complete the construction on time, making the roads operational by November 15, reported the Press, Media, and Public Communications Department of the government.
