Social indicators by August 2012

In the first 8 months of 2012, 49217 mothers delivered 49439 children (live births) increased by 3076 mothers, and 3092 children or 6.7 percent respectively, compared to same period of the previous year.

In the first 8 months of 2012, at national level infant mortality decreased by 5 or 0.6 percent to 773, and child mortality aged 1-5 decreased by 7 or 4.1 percent to 164.

The number of unemployed reached 43.2 thousand at the end of August 2012, reflecting an increase of 2.8 thous.persons or 6.9 percent compared to same period of the previous year. 

In the first 8 months of 2012, 632.8 thous.persons were registered as insurer, of which 421.8 thousand or 66.7 percent were those from the establishments, and 211.0 thousand or 33.3 percent from the government budgetary organization. Compared to same period of the previous year, the number of insurers increased by 75.2 thousand or 13.5 percent, of which the increased by 66.6 thousand or 18.8 percent from establishments, and increased by 8.6 thousand or 4.2 percent from government budgetary organization.

In the first 8 months of 2012, social welfare pensions and benefits allocated to 59.7 thous.persons, showing an increase of 3.5 thous.persons or 6.3 percent, total amount of the allocated fund increased by 15.6 bln.tog or 69.3 percent compared to same period of the previous year...

In the first 8 months of 2012, the total number of infectious disease cases reached 29762, increase by 3675 cases or 14.1 percent compared to same period of the previous year. The increase in the number of infectious disease cases was mainly due to the increases of 6872 or 9.3 times in mumps and 144 or 5.1 percent in syphilis although there were decreases of 2236 or 32.8 percent in viral hepatitis, 718 or 28.1 percent in varicella, 238 or 15.5 percent in shigellosis, 67 or 2.2 percent in tuberculosis, and 7 or 0.2 percent in gonococcal infection.

At national level, 14515 crimes were registered in the first 8 months of 2012, reflecting an increase of 1569 crimes or 12.1 percent compared to same period of the previous year. The increase in the number of crimes was mainly due to the increases in crime against the right of ownership (974), crime against human life and health (or physical well-being) (310), crime against the rules of safety of traffic and use of motor vehicles (162), crimes against environmental protection rules (128) compared to same period of the previous year.

In the first 8 months of 2012, occurred crimes caused 5604 injuries and 717 deaths. The number of injuries up by 360 persons or 6.9 percent and the number of deaths down by 109 persons or 13.2 percent compared to same period of the previous year.
