Cell phone subscribers to pay per second

The Agency for Fair Competition and Consumer Rights (AFCCR) welcomed its new Director O. Magnai a week ago. On September 26 the Director made an announcement to journalists about the work of the AFCCR.

Magnai announced that from November 1 Mongolian phone users will pay per second, rather than paying for a whole minute even when the call lasts only 10 seconds. O.Magnai met with the administrators of Mobile Phone Operators and decided to calculate interest and decrease the monthly payment of pre-paid subscribers based on the fund, consisting of hypothecated money of pre-paid subscribers, at Operator Companies.

The state interrogators of AFCCR have proven that the fuel importers of Mongolia had conspired to increase the fuel price. The importers were ordered to pay a fine of 17 billion MNT for conspiracy, but six council members of AFCCR terminated the decision and halted the fine. Magnai announced that those six members are under investigation by the Independent Authority Against Corruption and he had submitted to the Prime Minister of Mongolia the names of officials to replace the investigated members.

Magnai also announced that he has fined the APU, Suu and MonFresh Companies for over ten million MNT for false advertising of their products. These companies had claimed they use pure cow milk as their main ingredient, but it was found that their products contain 90% powdered milk.

Magnai also warned dairy product companies to state the truth on their cartons of milks and dairy products, particularly regarding whether they contain fresh or powdered milk.

The administrators of the National University of Mongolia, the State University of Education of Mongolia, the Health Sciences University of Mongolia, the Mongolian State University of Agriculture, the Mongolian University of Science and Technology and the Mongolian University of Arts and Culture have been found guilty of conspiring to increase university fees (the fees increased again this year). The AFCCR has demanded that these universities reduce their fees. Also, each university engaged in the conspiracy has been fined 25 million MNT.
