Prince Michael of Kent meets with Prime Minister S.Batbold

At the invitation by the Prime Minister of Mongolia S.Batbold, Prince Michael of Kent made official an visit to Mongolia. He arrived in Ulaanbaatar on April 14th. He is a cousin of Queen Elizabeth II. Prince Michael carries out royal duties representing the Queen at some functions in Commonwealth realms outside of the United Kingdom.

The Prime Minister S.Batbold received the Prince yesterday on April 17th. The Prime Minister thanked the Prince for accepting his invitation and greeted him with a warm welcome to Mongolia. At the start of the meeting S.Batbold stated that Mongolia is giving top priority in enhancing Mongolia and UK relations particularly in the fields of economy and investment sectors and specified the significance of seeking new partnership possibilities.

Also, the Prime Minister has mentioned Mongolian Stock Exchange’s cooperation with London Stock Exchange and successful start of adaptation of the UK’s Cambridge standards in Mongolia, secondary school education programs and expressed his hope that the Prince will make a contribution to boosting mutual cooperation of the two countries.

Prince Michael has conveyed his delight visiting Mongolia for the first time. The Prince said to make effort in developing Mongolia-UK relations and that he is personally investigating possible investment opportunities in Mongolia.

Prince Michael was received by some Ministers of Mongolia to exchange opinions on mutual relations and cooperation in particularly in the fields of trade investment and economy sectors. The Prince visited the Mongolian Stock Exchange and held a meeting with business delegates.

His father was the Duke of Kent, the fourth-eldest son of George V and Queen Mary. His mother was the Duchess of Kent (Princess Marina of Greece and Denmark), a daughter of Prince Nicholas of Greece and Denmark and Grand Duchess Elena Vladimirovna of Russia.
