Beng pushes gender equality in policy-making

House Deputy Speaker for Mindanao and District IRepresentative Beng Climaco has called on women lawmakers nationally andinternationally advance advocacies that are close to their hearts specificallygender equality.

Cong. Climaco represented the country’s womenleaders in the United Nations Development Program or UNDP’s Convention on WomenEquality held in Ulaanbataar, Mongolia recently where she pushed for gender equalityon policy-making.

The lady solon said byadvancing advocacies close to their hearts,women policy makers can clearlydirect their actions. For her part, she said, it is children and youth, familyand education.

Since she joined governmentservice—first as councilor, later a vice mayor and now as member of the Houseof Representatives—Cong. Climaco has continuously prioritized gender equalityin her agenda. These included the sponsorship of bills which have become lawson children and women protection as well as strengthening of families and improvementof quality of education.

The Mongolia conferencehighlighted the role of women in their respective nations, especially thosethat are into policy-making or legislation. 

“I am grateful that theUNDP nominated me, as this would likewise further my capacity in legislation”,Cong. Climaco added.
