Presidents Cup games in Lahore despite bomb

ISLAMABAD (AP) -Football clubs from Mongolia and Taiwan will go ahead with their AFC President's Cup games in Lahore next month despite a Bangladeshi club pulling out on security grounds.

A bomb went off at a Lahore railway station on Tuesday, killing three people and wounding more than 20 others, prompting Bangladeshi champions Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi to pull out of the event.

However officials from the Asian Football Confederation said Group A of the President's Cup - an event for club teams from lower-ranked Asian nations - is "still on in Lahore'' from May 8-12.

The AFC officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk on the subject.

Mongolia's Erchim Football Club and Taiwan Power Company will compete in Group A with Pakistan champions KRL.
