Legislation of donors should be revised

On April 23, doctors from Singapore took part at the second international conference of liver disorder problems by at an invitation of Mayor G.Munkhbayar.

Officials from the Health Ministry and qualified doctors of liver transplant surgery headed by O.Sergelen exchanged views with foreign doctors. Mongolian doctors operated five surgery of liver transplant and about 50 patients have been waiting the surgery. But patients have not founded their donors because the law on donor instructs that transplant organs should be taken from dead donor and if a live donor could give their organs, donors should be twins, siblings or relatives who have good health.

That is why doctors and patients requested politicians to revise the law on donors. If the law provisions would be changed, many patients could be operated, said doctors.

The WHO guides main trends to take kidney and liver from dead donors. But some Asian countries including Singapore commonly take transplant organs from live donors. Singaporean doctors advised Mongolian doctors to cooperate with the world respective treatment centers and they approved B virus vaccination of Mongolia.

The doctors noted that liver disease cases reduced in three times after B virus vaccination in Singapore.
