Mongolian trademark will be introduced to the world market

The Mongolian Fur and Cashmere Union, the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry (MFALI), and Agricultural Marketing and Brand Development project from the Asian Development Bank will release the Mongolian trademark Tansag Shirhegt to the world market.

Mongolia exports over around 80% of its produced fur and silk products but the producers were never clearly known as their products were exported through international outlets. To address this the MGALI proposed that a Mongolian trademark and logo be established for the fur and cashmere industry.

B. Batsetseg, Head Specialist at the Light Industry Strategy Implementation Department of the MFALI, said, “We have decided to combine goat cashmere, yak and camel furs and named it ‘Mongolian Tansag Shirhegt’ (‘Mongolian Luxurious Texture’), and fur, cashmere products from Mongolia will thus be known worldwide by this name. As for its logo, we decided that cashmere is the ‘king’ of textiles and this concept was inserted into the logo.”

Over 60 fur and cashmere producers discussed and agreed on the name and logo of their trademark. The new Mongolian trademark will be introduced to the world at the 81st International Textile Organization Congress, which is to be held in New York from May 7th to 9th.
