Mongolian girl comes to Boston for treatment

BOSTON (WHDH) -- A little girl has more than one reason to celebrate on her birthday. The story began in Mongolia where the little girl was badly burned during a house fire. Luckily, her story continues in Boston where a number of people came together to change her life.

Nara had a special birthday celebration in Boston. She and her mother came to Boston so Nara could get treatment for the injuries she received when she and her older sister got trapped inside their burning house.

“Nara’s older sister Sara went out, 2 and a half years old, remembered Nara, went back through the flames, dragged Nara out who was 11-months-old and you know, she saved her,” said Sas Carey, the founder of Nomadicare.

Nara’s mother did not know what would happen to her little girl.

“It was very hard to think, she just couldn’t imagine what to do or what would happen to her next after she saw the burn,” said a woman.

For over two years, three nonprofit organizations worked to bring Nara and her mother to Boston to receive the care she needed.

“38 percent of her body with third degree burns, she had a couple skin grafts on both her hands at the time of the fire and her right leg had such a thick scar that she couldn’t straighten her leg and walk normally,” said Sas Carey.

Nara’s family said they were so grateful for everyone’s help.

After arriving in Boston, Nara had some surgery to repair her scarring and is set to have another operation soon.
