"DEBT OF GOVERNMENT STANDS AT NORMAL LEVEL"

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ The external debt of Mongolia's government does not exceed normal level, said G.Zandanshatar, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Ch.Gankhuyag, the Vice Minister of Finance.

They sounded it at a regular cabinet meeting on Wednesday to refute Ts.Shinebayar MP's claim that this debt reached USD 9.6 billion in overall.

The Bank of Mongolia said that, out of this sum only USD 2.2 billion belongs to the government and that the remaining 7.4 billion has been made by the private sector, including banks and non-bank organizations.

In previous year, the government took foreign loans of MNT 257.9 billion, by execution of that year MNT 2,650.9 billion remain where 66.2 per cent is projects' loans, 21.6 per cent--financial loans, 10.3 per cent--loans for autoroads, 1.6 per cent--loans for programmes, and 0.3 per cent--loans from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Meanwhile, the domestic debt remainder reached MNT 503.3 billion by the 2011 execution. To finance and support various works, the government traded MNT 358.3 billion shares and paid MNT 20 billion for the repayment.

As of the last year, the total debt of Mongolia's government stood at MNT 3,154.2 billion.
