WRESTLERS AND JUDOISTS QUALIFIED FOR LONDON OLYMPICS

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ Freestyle wrestlers of the national selected team gained rights to compete in the London 2012 Olympic Games by winning gold and silver medals in the 2nd World Qualification Tournament which ran last weekend in Helsinki, Finland.

The national team has been represented by five wrestlers there. A State Honored Sportsman B.Naranbaatar won a gold medal in the men's 55 kg contest by defeating his rivals from Mexico, Moldavia, Belarus, Azerbaijan and Tajikistan and got the Olympic right; O.Uitumen (men's 84 kg) defeted opponents from Slovakia, Romania and Poland.

Other Mongolians did not win medals.

By getting the two rights in the last qualification tournament, eight wrestlers of the national team of Mongolia will compete in the men's 55, 74, 84 and 120 kg, and in the women's 48, 55, 63 and 72 kg events during the London Olympic Games.

The International Judo Federation (IJF) has announced names of judoists who have been directly qualified to compete in men's and women's events of the London 2012 Olympic Games, based on results of tournaments of World Cup, Grand Prix, Grand Slam and continental competitions.

In accordance with the IJF rule, first 22 male and 14 female judoists by the world rankings in each category have got the rights. 12 judoists of the national team of Mongolia have been qualified for the men's and women's events of eight weight categories.

As the latest rankings are shown, D.Tomorkhuleg, G.Boldbaatar and Ch.Boldbaatar are listed among the first 22 world judoists in the men's 60 kg category; Kh.Tsagaanbaatar and S.Miargchaa--in the men's 66 kg category; N.Tuvshinbayar and B.Temuulen--in the men's -100 kg category. The Mongolian Judo Federation will run selection tournaments among the judoists who have been qualified in the same weight category and will announce names of the judoists to compete in the Olympics.

The IJF will announce on May 10 names of additional 100 judoists to compete in London.
