Uncertainty still surrounds Miss World Fiji pageant

There is still uncertainty and a lot of confusion on how Fiji’s representative for the Miss World pageant in Mongolia has been changed and how a 16-year-old contestant was crowned in the first place.

Following Torika Watters’ crowning as Miss World Fiji, organizer Andhy Blake maintained that she would represent Fiji although she would not turn 17 when the pageant is held in Mongolia.

Watters is now replaced by the runner up Koini Vakaloloma while Blake said Watters will go to the Miss World pageant in Bali next year.

Watters hoped this will work out for her but she said there is no confirmation on this.

Watters also stated that she had entered the competition to be an Ambassador for Fiji and raise money for charitable causes.

She said Blake first contacted her on Facebook on the 7th of March to invite her to be part of the pageant.

She claimed that Blake had told her that he would reserve a place for her among the semifinalists.

She also said that she had told Blake that she would not be turning 17 until next year however he had said that this would not matter as he had received prior approval from the CEO of Miss World.

Blake is yet to comment.
