EXTERNAL TRADE IN STATISTICS

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ In the first four months of 2012, Mongolia's external trade turnover reached USD 3,373.1 million, trading with 118 countries from all over the world.


The exports made up USD 1,292.4 million, whereas the imports--USD 2,080.6 million. External trade balance showed a deficit of USD 788.2 million, increasing USD 366.8 million or 87.0 per cent against 2011. The foreign trade deficit in the period was mainly caused by the fact that the import growth was higher 20.1 points than that of the export.

Total external trade turnover increased by USD 626.2 million or 22.8 per cent, of which imports--up by USD 496.5 million or 31.3 per cent; and the exports up by USD 129.7 million dollars or 11.2 per cent against the previous year.

Mineral products, natural or cultured stones, precious metal, jewelry, coins, raw & processed hides, skins, fur & articles, animal origin products, textile articles and auto & air transport vehicles & their spare parts thereof accounted for 98.3 per cent of the total export value amount.
