China's Inner Mongolia, Shanxi, Shaanxi Jan-Apr coal output rises 15%

China's three largest coal-mining areas Inner Mongolia, Shanxi and Shaanxi mined 760.97 million mt of coal over January-April, up 15% year on year, and comprising 65% of China's total coal output for the period, data released Friday by Beijing-based Dexin Yongming Consultation Co. showed.

The largest coal mining region Inner Mongolia mined 335.4 million mt of coal over January-April, up 17.5% year on year, and 95.75 million mt in April, up 22.4% year on year, the data showed.

Six coal mining projects with a combined capacity of 7.2 million mt/year came on stream in the region over January-March, the report said.

Shanxi province was the second with output of 296.77 million mt over January-April, up 16.1% year on year, and 79 million mt in April, up 10.6% year on year.

Shaanxi province was third with output of 128.81 million mt over January-April, up 6.4% year on year, and 37.64 million mt in April, up 11.6% year on year.

Inner Mongolia's January-April output would annualize at 1.01 billion mt for 2012, while Shanxi targets mining 900 million mt of coal in the year.

Meanwhile, coals stocks at China's major coal mines stood at 53 million mt at the end of April, up 6% month on month and 13.3% year on year, data released by the China Coal Trade and Development Association Thursday showed.
