ABOUT IMPLEMENTATION COURSE OF OYU TOLGOI PROJECT

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ A construction of buildings at the Oyutolgoi project has been going with 80 per cent, said the Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy D.Zorigt at the regular cabinet meeting on Wednesday.

In frames of the project, 18 thous.773 people have been employed, of whom 12 thous.354, or 65.8 per cent, are the Mongolians; since 2010, the OT project has established contracts with 2,500 enterprisers and entities to purchase products and services of USD 887 million, he said.

The cabinet gave obligations to some Ministers and heads of agencies to put control over the OT project's implementation course and to maintain several principles to transfer some parts of the Oyu tolgoi company's stocks into the state ownership. The cabinet decided to hold talks with the OT company's authority on enrolling a representative of the Mongolian side in the OT's administration so that to improve a trust, control and participation of the shareholders and to support a participation of Mongolian side. In addition, a permanent control will be put over the expenses and costs, which are reflected in the technical and economic justification. 

If necessary, an evaluation will be conducted by professional and administrative bodies.

The Ministers and heads of agencies also have been ordered to adhere to such principles as improving the social responsibilities of companies, augmenting their contribution to rural development, being transparent and open, hiring national enterprisers in the project's supply, making appropriate conditions.
