Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ On Monday, the President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj granted prizes to winners of the 15th Mongolian script calligraphy state contest.

It has been organized by the “Khumuun bichig”, the MONTSAME-published script-written newspaper, only in the country.

This year's contest ran on occasion of the 20th anniversary of the “Khumuun bichig” newspaper with a participation of some thousand people from all provinces and the city. The contest had four categories--11th grade pupils, amateurs, professional teachers, and 1st-10th grade pupils.

The winners of the 11th grade pupils category--Z.Monkhnaran, B.Lhamsuren, B.Oyun-Undrakh and Sh.Tserensodnom--received scholarships.

At the ceremony, the President Ts.Elbegdorj underlined that spreading and propagandizing the Mongolian script is a responsibility of all Presidents and of all state servants, besides, governors of all levels must help people in learning the Mongolian script.

“The Mongolian script is the image of Mongolians, this is a pride of Mongolians. I released my decree in 2010 to support a usage of the Mongolian script in all official documents. This decree must be realized in all levels,” he stressed.

After the ceremony, the MONTSAME Director-general T.Baasansuren gave to the State Head a souvenir--the Mongolian whip-shaped roll with written on it the “Ikh Zasag” law of the Mongol Great Empire.
