Petroleum importers have increased gasoline price along tugrik’s rate falling against U.S. dollar ten days ago.

Therefore, the Government has asked Authority for Fair Competition and Consumers (AFCC) to check gasoline price raise basis last week. It has discussed AFCC conclusion on January 13 because AFCC has confirmed that petroleum importers have conspired to raise gasoline price. Besides, petroleum importers have had profit using their monopoly because gasoline price could be raised from MNT100 to MNT170 along tugrik’s rate falling against U.S. dollar while they have increased it by MNT270, informed officials of AFCC.

But representatives of petroleum importer organizations stated that they would not recognize AFCC monitoring results and blamed the Government for gasoline price increase. They noted that the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy has called petroleum importers to discuss petroleum price increase. They informed on Sunday to deliberate gasoline price reduction. AFCC has stated to take next measures of responsibility to petroleum importers because it has studied petroleum importers have increased gasoline price without real basis. Besides, it has noted that monopoly legislation should be amended.
