Government fires head of Nuclear Energy Authority

The Government on Wednesday fired S.Enkhbat, the head of the Nuclear Energy Authority (NEA). Last fall the Government sacked NEA Deputy Director R.Badamdamdin. It is believed the officials have been dismissed for their roles in the controversy surrounding reports that Mongolia would become a repository for nuclear waste.

At the Government meeting on Wednesday, members also discussed the state hay reserve, the issuance of government bonds, and children’s rights.

Deputy Prime Minister M.Enkhbold spoke about the hay reserve and Finance Minister S.Bayartsogt government bonds at the meeting. Food, Agriculture and Light Industry Minister T.Badamjunai also proposed selecting the state’s best farmers and herders.

Also, members decided to grant a monthly stipend of MNT 70,000 to students.
