FRANCE APPRECIATES MONGOLIA'S STEP TOWARDS ABOLISHING DEATH PENALTY

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ France's Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs has highly spoken an approval the Mongolian parliament gave to decision to abolish the capital punishment by ratifying the Second Additional Protocol to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.


This statement was released by the French Ministry on January 9, 2012.

France also welcome the commitment made by the President of Mongolia, Mr. Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj, who imposed a moratorium on death penalty in January of 2010. France reaffirms its constant commitment, and that of Europe, to abolishing the death penalty anywhere, whatever the circumstances.
