President Xi Jinping Exchanges Congratulatory Messages with President Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj of Mongolia on Twentieth Anniversary of Amendment to China-Mongolia Friendship and Cooperation Treaty

On April 29, 2014, President Xi Jinping exchanged congratulatory messages with President Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj of Mongolia, extending their warm congratulations to the 20th anniversary of the amendment to the China-Mongolia Friendship and Cooperation Treaty.

In his congratulatory message, Xi Jinping said, on April 29, 1994, China and Mongolia amended and then signed the China-Mongolia Friendship and Cooperation Treaty. It charted the cause for the future development of the China-Mongolia relations from a strategic and long-term perspective,, made clear the fundamental principle of strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation in the fields of politics, economy, people-to-people and cultural exchanges between the two sides, and demonstrated the determination and confidence of China and Mongolia in dedicating themselves to the friendship for generations and being always the good neighbors, good friends, and good partners. It has been the important guarantee for the China-Mongolia relationship which has kept making new achievements over the past 20 years. This year marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of China-Mongolia diplomatic relationship and the 20th anniversary of the amendment to the China-Mongolia Friendship and Cooperation Treaty, as well as the China-Mongolia Friendly Exchanges Year. I myself attach great importance of China-Mongolia relations, and China is willing to work with Mongolia to promote China-Mongolia strategic partnership for new and greater development, better serving the benefits of the two countries and the two peoples.

Elbegdorj said in the congratulatory message that in the past 20 years, under the guidance of the spirit of the Mongolia-China Friendship and Cooperation Treaty, the Mongolia-China relations and cooperation in all fields have developed smoothly. He is fully confident that the further development and expansion of bilateral relations and cooperation in the future will be more conducive to increasing benefits for the two peoples. He cherishes the sound relations established with H.E. President Xi Jinping, and is willing to work with President Xi to make concerted efforts in the great cause of comprehensively developing Mongolia-China strategic partnership.
