Online
meeting held with local governors
Ulaanbaatar,
May 7 (MONTSAME) Dornod aimag’s Dashbalbar, Tov aimag’s Jargalant, Arkhangai
aimag’s Erdenemandal and Khovd aimag’s Uyench soums have been selected as
foremost soums of this year.
A head of the
Cabinet Secretariat for Government Ch.Saikhanbileg said it at a beginning of
the weekly online meeting held Wednesday with local authorities.
An
infrastructure project is running successfully in Dornogobi’s Sainshand and
Zamyn-Uud soums. Pipelines and heating system of these two soums will be
renovated by this project, Saikhanbileg said, and added that this aimag
recently has announced to become very first alcoholic beverage-free province in
Mongolia.
“Olzii khutgiin
naran” LLC has founded a factory of asphalt and concrete in Orkhon province. In
addition, a concrete factory has been established in Ovorkhangai aimag,
employing some 20 people, Saikhanbileg said.
The Cabinet
Secretariat head reported about construction works of paved-roads to run to six
aimags from the city, thermal power station in nine aimags and apartments with
1,000 flats, and then obliged the local governors to pay attention to these
works, to control them and to give related reports to the cabinet. Saying that
fully-equipped diagnosis centers have been set up in 11 aimags, Saikhanbileg
pointed out these aimags are now time to regularize activities of these
centers, to re-train medical doctors and make the medical services more
effective and adequate.
During the
meeting, the Minister of Construction and Urban Development Ts.Bayarsaikhan
reported that the “New soum” project was implemented in three soums last year,
and it will continue in other 16 soums this year. The United Nations (UN) and
the Asian Development Bank (ADB) plan to realize programmes on reforms in 12
soums, he added.
Procurement
Agency chief works in “11 11” center
Ulaanbaatar,
May 7 (MONTSAME) In accordance with a list of projects and measures to be
implemented in 2014 approved by the government, the Procurement Agency has
started purchasing activities for 201 projects and measures.
These projects
and measures will be implemented by 17 Ministries and agencies with capitals of
323.7 billion Togrog, the Procurement Agency head D.Enkhjargal said during
working at the “11 11” center. The purchasing actions for this year are fully
performed online for ensuring its transparency and improving the public
monitoring over this, she underlined.
In conjunction
with running tenders online, the number of organization and enterprisers has
rapidly increased to apply for the tenders. Moreover, all actions of
procurement and finance are informed openly through some websites--e-tender.mn,
e-procurement.mn and meps.gov.mn, Enkhjargal said.
Mongolia-Myanmar
consultative meeting held
Ulaanbaatar,
May 7 (MONTSAME) The first consultative meeting of the Ministries of Foreign
Affairs of Mongolia and the Republic of the Union of Myanmar was held Tuesday
in Naypyidaw city, Myanmar.
The meeting was
co-chaired by Ch.Bayarmonkh, director of the Mongolian Ministry of Foreign
Affairs Department of Asia-Pacific countries; and U San Lwin, director-general
of the Political Department of the Myanmar’s Foreign Ministry.
The parties
discussed the Mongolia-Myanmar relations and cooperation and the integration of
Asia-Pacific region. They emphasized a great importance of the state visit of
the Mongolian President paid to Myanmar in 2013 as well as the official visit
of Shwe Mann, the Speaker of Myanmar Speaker of the Burmese House of
Representatives to Mongolia organized last month for launching the bilateral
relations and cooperation. Then, the sides agreed to exchange experience in
proper exploitation of mineral resources, to cooperate in the tourism sectors
and to realize other works.
Moreover, the
countries concurred to hold a short-term training dedicated to Burmese state
servants on democracy, open society, state service and court reforms and
multi-party system through the International Cooperation Foundation of Mongolia
(ICFM), and to exchange parliamentary delegates and election commission
officials.
At the meeting,
the parties exchanged views on supporting Mongolia for becoming a partner of
the ASEAN Dialogue and a member of the East Asia Summit (EAS). As chairing the
ASEAN in 2014, the Burmese side pledged to invite the Mongolia’s Foreign
Minister to participate as a special guest in the ASEAM Ministerial Meeting to
be held August of this year, and to attempt to positively tackle an official
request of Mongolia for hosting the “ASEAN+1” unofficial meeting by consulting
it with ASEAN members.

received by Vice FM of Myanmar
Ulaanbaatar,
May 7 (MONTSAME) In frames of participating in the very first consultative
meeting between the Foreign Ministries of Mongolia and Myanmar, the director of
the Mongolian Foreign Ministry’s Department of Asia-Pacific countries Mr
Bayarmonkh was received Tuesday by U Thant Kyaw, the Myanmar Deputy Foreign
Minister, in Naypyidaw city.
During the
meeting, Mr U Thant Kyaw highly spoke Mongolia’s achievements gained last some
20 years in democracy, a development of open society and creation of
market-driven economic system, and expressed a willingness to learn Mongolia’s
experience in democracy. He also underlined an importance of supporting each
other within the United Nations and other international organizations.
Foreign
Minister receives Mr James Lynch
Ulaanbaatar,
May 7 (MONTSAME) On Wednesday, the Mongolia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs
L.Bold met Mr James Lynch, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees’
(UNHCR) Bangkok-based regional coordinator for South-East Asia.
At the meeting,
Mr Lynch reported that the UNHCR’s Bangkok-based regional coordinator has
become responsible for Mongolian affairs due to a structure reform in the
Commissioner.
The sides
exchanged views on a process of Mongolia for joining the 1951 Convention
Relating to the Status of Refugee and the 1967 Protocol for the convention, and
on refugees’ matters.
Stock
exchange news for May 7

May 7 (MONTSAME) At the Stock Exchange trades held Wednesday, a total of 86
thousand and 755 shares of 21 JSCs were traded costing MNT 23 million 852
thousand and 100.00.
"Bayanbogd"
/75 thousand and 109 units/, "Genco tour bureau" /6,000 units/,
"Mongol shevro" /2,350 units/, "Khokh gan" /1,000 units/
and "Gutal" /850 units/ were the most actively traded in terms of
trading volume, in terms of trading value--"Gutal" (MNT nine million
423 thousand and 750), "Mongol shevro" (MNT five million and 056
thousand), "Darkhan nekhii" (MNT two million and 625 thousand),
"UB-BUK" (MNT one million 474 thousand and 200) and "UB
hotel" (MNT 910 thousand).
The total
market capitalization was set at MNT one trillion 591 billion 990 million 261
thousand and 606. The Index of Top-20 JSCs was 15,646.23, increasing by MNT
223.27 or 1.51% against the previous day.
Students’
spring sports festival runs in Irkutsk
Ulaanbaatar,
May 7 (MONTSAME) The “Students’ spring-2014” sports festival of Mongolian
students took place from March 29 through May 5 in Irkutsk city, Russia.
Co-organized by
the General Consulate of Mongolia in Irkutsk city and the Irkutsk city-based
Union of Mongolian Students, the event ran in several sport competitions for
chess, draughts, table tennis, volleyball, basketball and football.
This year’s
festival attracted some 500 students studying in the city. As the result,
students of the Irkutsk University of Road Relations finished first. Students
of the Irkutsk State University of Techniques, and the Medical University took
second and third places, respectively.
Proposal
to ease personal tax burden rejected

Wednesday`s plenary session meeting of Parliament held the first discussion on
the stimulus action plan to revive the economy that was submitted by the
Government on May 7th. In relation to the Government`s stimulus action plan, MP
S.Byambatsogt and L.Enkh-Amgalan put forward a proposal to ease personal tax
burdens, however the proposal was not backed.
MP
Ts.Oyunbaatar submitted a proposal to diminish the estimated cost to 30
percent, but this was also rejected. The Finance Minister explained that this
issue was placed in the budget amendment of 2014. The budget amendment 2014
states to reduce some expenditure to 10-30 percent.
Lastly, MP Ts.Oyunbaatar`s
suggestion “to ban budget spending for media covering and closing contracts”
was backed in the session meeting.
Kidnapper
of 10 children arrested
May 7 (news.mn)
The kidnapping of 10 children occurred in Khan-Uul distict, Bio combinat area,
on Tuesday night May 6th. The Press office of the General Police Agency
reported that the kidnapper was arrested last night.
The head of the
Press office of the General Police Agency, police colonel B.Baatarkhuu spoke to
news agency reporters saying, "An attempted kidnapping occurred. Police
patrol officers at Erkhes 102 point, lead by first lieutenant N.Dashtseren,
received a call about drunken people in Bio combinat area in Khan-Uul district.
When the police officers arrived, they discovered a situation of attempted
kidnapping of children by a suspect. Patrol officers successfully dealt with
the suspect and freed the children. During the investigation, a seriously
beaten victim and one dead body were found at the scene. The beaten child was
sent to hospital for emergency first aid. Currently an investigation has been
launched into the case. The suspect was arrested and detained at the detention
center.”
