A BRITISH millionaire accused of fathering seven children with a harem of aspiring models he kept against their will has been arrested.
Shoja Shojai, 56, allegedly met many of the women in London and convinced them to move to his mansion in Spain, telling them he was an oil tycoon who was friends with Barack Obama.
Police were called to the luxurious Arabic-style mansion in the hills above Marbella when one of the women filed a domestic violence claim against him, T he Telegraph reports.
Nine of the women, mostly in their 20s, who live at the mansion claim Shojai lured them to Spain under false pretences, abusing them and forcing them to cover the 6500 pound ($11,6700) monthly rent.
The women and their children, aged between nine months and seven-years-old, have been taken to nearby refuges, while Shojai has been released on bail.
The Iranian-born tycoon allegedly met the women, who came from countries such as Russia, Mongolia and Kazakhstan, while they were studying fashion in London.
Some of the women told police they moved to Spain because Shojai convinced them he could help them in their careers.
Instead, they claim, Shojai moved them into a mansion and took turns having sex with them, before returning to his home next door.
The young women told police they were only allowed out of the 10-bedroom villa when accompanied by staff.
However one of Shojai’s employees who worked at the home said he didn’t believe the women were being held against their will.
“They left in the mornings in their cars without any problems to take their children to school. I can only say what I saw during the day though. I’ve no idea what happened at night,” he said.
Local media reports police also found drugs, including the date-rape drug Rohypnol, at the property. They’ve ordered that the women be tested.
Shojai, a British passport holder since 2008, was understood to be married to one of the women, a 33-year-old Danish mother-of-two.
He has denied all the claims and allegations.
