PRELIMINARY RESULTS: GDP WENT UP

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ The preliminary estimates of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by production approached MNT 10,829.7 billion at current price, MNT 4,881.4 billion at 2005 constant price in 2011, and increased by 27.8 per cent at current price and 17.3 per cent at constant price respectively, against the previous year.


The real increase in GDP in 2011 was mainly due to the 42.5 per cent increase in wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles; 16.0 per cent increase in manufacturing sector, 14.3 per cent increase in construction and 8.7 per cent increase in mining and quarrying sector respectively.

According to preliminary estimates of 2011, the GDP was MNT 10,899.9 billion at current prices and MNT 4,906.5 billion at constant prices of 2005 by expenditure approaches. It increased by MNT 2,440.3 billion or 28.8 per cent at current prices and MNT 723.5 billion or 17.3 per cent at constant prices compared to previous year.

In 2011, the GDP this growth was achieved mainly by gross capital formation increase.
