FUEL IMPORTERS INCREASE PRICE

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ Due to a soar of the U.S dollar's rate against Mongolian togrog (MNT), the fuel importers such as the NIC, MT and others augmented the price of fuels by MNT 260-300, from last Friday.

On Monday, the Sod Mongol and Petrovis increased their price--of “AI-92” auto fuel reached now MNT 1,820 per liter and of “A-80”--1,515--a bit lower than that of other fuel stations. The diesel price is MNT 1,885 everywhere.

The fuel importers explain their action as a response to the U.S dollar rate increase. “It was unavoidable, because in the last three months the rate of dollar has been going up sharply,” says M.Khaliunbat, executive director of the NIC LLC.

“We asked the cabinet three times to take a measure for keeping the rate, and we, bearing a social responsibility, had not sold the fuel at the increased price until we ran out of fuel reserves,” he said, adding that if the U.S dollar rate increases further they will increase the price as well.

The Bank of Mongolia says the current price of fuels may not change if the dollar rate is kept at MNT 1,400.
