AMBASSADOR OF FRANCE PRESENTS DIPLOMATIC CREDENTIALS

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of France to Mongolia Mr. Yves Delune presented on Friday his letter of credence to the President Ts.Elbegdorj.


After this ceremony the State Head received the new Ambassador.

The State Head underlined that France is one of the vital partners of Mongolia in the European Union. "A letter from France's President Nicolas Sarkozy states that Mongolia is a special for France partner in Asia. It is an expression of high level bilateral relations and cooperation," Ts.Elbegdorj said.

He is glad that the new Ambassador of France speaks Mongolian and has deep knowledge about the Mongolian culture and traditions, he said. Mongolian parliament passed a draft law on joining the Second Optional Protocol to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, aiming at abolition of the death penalty, he added.

The President underlined an importance of implementing justice and court reforms, and said Mongolia wants to cooperate with France in training staffers for these activities, especially in training Mongolians in the Magistrate university of France. He also emphasized that it has been important to augment investments from France in a scope of the economic relations and cooperation.

Ts.Elbegdorj noted that Mongolia might develop a cooperation with the Areva corporation not only in the mineral sector, but also in the renewable energy sphere. He hoped that the two countries will enhance the ties in the culture, arts and archeological sectors.

In turn, Mr. Delune said he is here for the second time, his visited Mongolia 30 years ago. He pointed out that France has a willingness to cooperate with Mongolia in many fields, and that he is confident that the countries will have the relations of comprehensive partnership.
